The Vow of Silence requires that its pledge not speak nor utter a sound.  It further requires that its pledge not engage in any form of non-verbal communication except when necessary.

One takes the Vow of Silence mainly for the purposes of meditation and reflection. Warrior Monks are required to take this vow until their mastery of that particular warrior caste is complete.
